Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania is creating a world
where every girl’s voice is heard and honored with respect,
her talents nurtured, her spirit supported and her beauty affirmed;
a world where every girl has adults in her life
who care and guide her in traveling her chosen path,
and where every girl’s story leads to fulfillment of her vision.
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania (GSWPA) serves more than 35,000 girls in grades K-12 in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Potter, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington and Westmoreland Counties. Through the efforts of 15,000 registered adult volunteers, members and staff, girls are served in a variety of pathways and achieve the outcomes or benefits of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
To achieve its vision, GSWPA has dedicated itself to being the organization of choice providing the premier leadership experience for girls in grades K-12 through girl-driven progressive pathways which empower them to excel in the ever-changing world.
The strategic goals for 2010-2013 include:
- Create and/or strengthen governance and organizational structure
- Increase and diversity funding and identify sustainable revenue sources
- Identify and develop volunteer model
- Develop quality, consistent and diverse pathways that are girl- driven
- Develop a strategic marketing model
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania was formed on April 1, 2008 as part of the GSUSA CORE Business Strategy. The council is supported by extraordinary leadership, compelling vision, dynamic partnerships and the unlimited potential that exists in all 27 counties of its jurisdiction.
