GSWPA Girl Advisory Team

Want to meet other girls from GSWPA? Do you have ideas about events you would like to see offered, or concerns you would like addressed?

Then the GSWPA Girl Advisory Team (GAT) is for you! As a part of the GAT you will be able to lend your voice as to what you would like to see offered in our council. This is a great opportunity to put your leadership skills to good use!

The Girl Advisory team gives Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors an opportunity to share the voice of the girls of Western PA.  By lending a voice to a movement that wants, needs, and values girl-led contributions, these young leaders will play a role in shaping the ongoing work of Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania.

The girls will work as a team to determine what priorities of Girl Scouting need addressed, in areas such as girl programs, girl activities, girl engagement, trainings, and social trends.

Commitment & Age Requirements

GSWPA-registered Cadettes or above (grades 6-12) can join the GAT.

Girls make a minimum one-year commitment to participate in the GAT. The one-year term runs October 1–September 30.  Members will meet quarterly on a regular basis, in person and through webinars. Exact meeting dates and times are established based on the availability of the majority of girl members.

GAT Organizational Structure

The Girl Advisory Team will be made up girl members from each area of our council, representing our diverse membership. Members will meet regionally on a regular basis and will meet together once each year. Each regional team will be guided by a GSWPA Girl Experience Specialist, who will compile the girl voice into minutes and recommendations, presented to GSWPA leadership.
