Camp Life is the Best Life!

Snap Camp

Horseback riding, STEM, high adventure and more -- there's something for every girl at Girl Scout camp! And she doesn't need to be a current Girl Scout or in a troop to join in the fun. 

Our resident camp sessions range from two to five nights and are open to girls in grades 1-12. Sessions are offered at: 

  • Camp Skymeadow in Armstrong County, about a one-hour drive from both Pittsburgh and Johnstown;
  • Camp Conshatawba in Cambria County, less than 15 miles from Johnstown and about 70 miles east of Pittsburgh; and
  • Camp Hawthorne Ridge in Erie County, 15 miles from Erie and about 120 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Beginner sessions:

(No prior experience required.)

Horsin' Around (Level 1)
Grades: 4-8

Learn the basics of western riding, horse safety and grooming techniques, and enjoy cowgirl crafts, games and activities.

Boots & Boards (Intro level)

Spend two days working on your horseback riding skills and two days hitting the trails on your bike!

Pony Party (Intro level)
Grades: 2-5

Learn the basics of riding and horse care, and have a blast with other camp activities like swimming, arts & crafts and more!

Giddy Up (Level 1)

Learn how to ride a horse with minimal assistance, care and groom for your horse, do horse-themed crafts, and even go on a trail ride.

Back in the Saddle (Level 2)
Grades: 4-10
Hop back in the saddle and learn even more about horse care and riding. (Completion of Horsin' Around or equivalent required.)

Blazing Saddles (Level 3)
Grades: 6-10 
Trot a little faster, learn to canter, and expand your horsemanship know-how by riding in the ring and tacking up your own horse. (Completion of Back in the Saddle or documented riding lessons required.)

Trail Boss
Grades: 6-12
Trot and canter down Skymeadow’s advanced horse trails and learn to run barrels and poles. (Completion of Blazing Saddles or equivalent documented riding experience is required.)

Wrangler-in-Training 1
Grades: 9-12
Shadow camp counselors and help wranglers with barn and herd care while teaching younger girls all about horses! (Prerequisites: Minimum CIT 1 and must be able to provide proof of experience with horses.)

Girls will earn their Senses skill-building badge as they solve a mystery involving trolls, trouble and fairy dust!

The Search for Bigfoot - July 16-21

Explore the legend of Bigfoot as you hike through remote areas of camp and learn about the various species of animals that live at camp.

CSI Academy - July 16-21

Grades: 6-10
Get hands-on experience in a variety of forensic science techniques like lifting fingerprints, making castings of footprints, analyzing blood spatter and more. 

DIY-namite - July 23-28

Get your hands dirty as you hammer and saw your way through this DIY session, learning basic building skills and making camp-inspired projects and crafts.

Mad Scientist - July 30-August 4

Grab your goggles and get ready to get a little bit weird as you create your own slime, make the BIGGEST bubble, and mix up ice, salt, and milk into something that tastes delicious! 

High Adventure

This camp session for older girls is all about doing things you normally don’t get to do at camp! Have a shaving cream fight, play night games after the other campers are in bed and try Fear Factor-style contests.

Registration Information: 

If you're not currently a member of Girl Scouts, you will need to purchase a girl membership ($25) before registering for a camp session.

After clicking on "Register Now" on an activity, simply choose "Create an Account" and complete the member registration process. Girls do not need to join a troop to attend camp. If you do not have a troop number or do not wish to join a troop, please enter "Unsure" in the Troop # box, then select "Unsure" from the list when it appears.
