Outdoor Training Summit

Looking to step up your outdoor skills and learn valuable tools for teaching girls? Look no further than the Outdoor Training Summit, September 16-17 at Camp Redwing!

This hands-on training will go "Beyond the Basic 8" to help you build confidence in your outdoor skills and offer different ways to teach outdoor skills to girls of all ages. Have fun, learn new skills, and network with other troop leaders through activities and discussions.

Choose between different sessions depending on your interests, such as outdoor cooking, knot tying, knife skills, outdoor badges, outdoor arts and crafts, and more!

Leaders new to outdoor skills can also take the seven-hour Outdoor Skills Training required for all outdoor trips through GSWPA camps. A CPR/First Aid blended learning model will also be available for those who need to be certified.

The event will run from Saturday morning with an overnight to Sunday morning. Can’t stay for the whole weekend? Choose one of our abbreviated options, including only CPR/First Aid training or only Saturday sessions.

Once you register, check out the confirmation letter in My GS for a link to choose the sessions you’d like to attend.

Meals and snacks will be provided.

Who Can Attend?

Leaders and volunteers (like you), who want to advance their outdoor skills can attend the Outdoor Skills Summit. There are different options for different skill and training levels:

New to Outdoor Skills? Choose the Outdoor Skills Training track and complete your required Outdoor Skills Training that volunteers need to take girls to GSWPA camps. You will still have time for Saturday night and Sunday morning activities if you choose this track.

Already Taken Outdoor Skills? Choose from all sessions to increase your knowledge and practice your skills.

A blended learning CPR/First Aid session is an option for one of the sessions, and is open to anyone, regardless of Outdoor Training Summit registration. Spots are limited to 20 participants, and this session has a separate fee.

Adults must be approved GSWPA volunteers to attend.
