Who Says Science is Just for Boys?

Girl Scouts FIRST Robotics is being offered council-wide for the 2010-11 membership year as a “series program” that invites girls to participate in teams. FIRST is an organization dedicated to “inspiring young people to be science and technology leaders by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills.” FIRST recognizes the importance of developing girls’ courage, confidence and character to make the world a better place through engagement in hands-on engineering and science programs.

GSWPA is recruiting enthusiastic, quick-learning volunteer coaches for our Robotics program. Free training as a LEGO Robotics Coach will be provided so that traveling labs can be conducted in all parts of our council area.

Check out our video, then look for additional information in the spring-summer 2011 issue of S’MORE magazine or contact Ann Rosenthal.

GSWPA is pleased to be partnering with the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy, and is grateful for funding received from SPARK, a program of the Sprout Fund, The EQT Foundation and the Motorola Foundation.
