Building a strong sense of self is an underlying goal of the series, which was made possible in part by a generous grant from Dove.
In Girl Scouting, the safety and security of our girl members are our primary concern. This is why Girl Scouts have guidelines that must be followed when girls sell cookies. Girls learn and practice personal protection skills and work in conjunction with adults who provide supervision and guidance for all grade levels. Adults must accompany younger Girl Scouts when they are selling, taking orders for, or delivering products. Adults oversee older Girl Scouts; they must be aware of how, when, and where the girls are selling products; be on call when girls are participating in product sales and be able to contact girls in a timely manner; be in an automobile in the area; or be present with the girls. Supervision extends to any online activity. We immediately investigate and remedy any instances where those guidelines are not followed.
It’s that time a year again! More than 35,000 Girl Scouts across western Pennsylvania kick off the annual Girl Scout Cookie Program on January 7, 2011.
In an attempt to better serve girls throughout the 27-counties in Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania’s jurisdiction, the council is currently conducting surveys of girls in grades k-12 through direct mail on online methods.

Pittsburgh, PA - The headlines have told the story for months. Food banks in every part Pennsylvania need food to fill their shelves. That is why, as the holiday season approaches, Girl Scouts across western Pennsylvania are participating in the Annual Fall FoodShare food drive to benefit area food banks. The Fall FoodShare raises awareness of childhood hunger and the donations collected will benefit over 20,000 children in the Food Bank's 11 county service area.
