Apply for the Girl Scout Leadership Institute at National Convention!

Less than a year from now — October 16-19 — the 2014 National Council Session/53rd Convention will unfold in Salt Lake City, Utah, affirming the unity of the Girl Scout movement. The Council Board Development Committee is recruiting National Council delegates. The committee will develop a slate of delegates, and this slate will be approved at theGSWPA Annual Meeting, April 12, 2014.

Additionally, anyone can attend the National Council Session as a visitor.

Here’s a brief overview of what November will bring:

  • an invigorating and efficient National Council Session (business meeting) designed to give delegates and official visitors plenty of time to enjoy other convention activities;
  • inspiring opening and closing ceremonies, keynote speakers and Young Women of Distinction;
  • innovative educational/professional development opportunities for volunteers and Girl Scout council staff members; and
  • top-notch entertainers;
  • a few surprises — and fun!

The Girl Scout Leadership Institute (GSLI)

The Girl Scout Leadership Institute will run concurrently with the National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.
All Girl Scout councils can select up to 10 girl members to participate in theGSLI experience. GSWPA also plans to send two volunteer chaperones. Girls who applied, but were not selected to participate as GSWPA delegates, will also be considered for GSLI.

Applications are currently available for both girls and adult chaperones. Please note the specific deadlines for the different applications.

GSWPA will subsidize 50 percent of the costs associated with registration, airfare, travel, housing and food. However, girl participants will be responsible for the remaining $825 per girl. Girls may seek additional financial assistance using the GSWPA Scholarship Form found at
