PA Governor's Conference for Women Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania is offering 50 scholarships for Girl Scout Ambassadors (entering grades 11 or 12 this fall) to attend the fifth annual Pennsylvania Governor’s Conference for Women, set for Oct. 2 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Pennsylvania Governor's Conference for Women is the state's premier educational and networking event for women. The one-day, non-partisan Conference, hosted by Governor Edward G. Rendell and the Pennsylvania Commission for Women, will feature more than 75 speakers leading seminars on the issues that matter most to women, including health, personal finance, business and entrepreneurship, work/life balance, media, and more. In addition to the dynamic program, hundreds of exhibitors showcase a wide variety of products and services, providing a unique opportunity to connect like-minded individuals and organizations.
The 2008 Conference will be the third year of the Pennsylvania Governor's Conference for Women Scholarship Program, which partners with colleges and universities to award scholarships to qualifying women enrolled or accepted to institutions of higher education in Pennsylvania. Thanks to the generosity of participating schools, the Pennsylvania Governor's Conference for Women Scholarship Program has awarded more than $400,000 in financial assistance to Pennsylvania women, bringing them one step closer.
