Girl Force… Activate the Possibilities this August
Girls in grades 7-12 are invited to Camp Elliott in Volant, PA to team up with members of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. Sponsored by Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania, the two full days of this special “boot camp” are designed to build courage, confidence and character.
Conducted on Tuesday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 5, girls learn to deploy their own spirit of adventure and can-do attitude in an active, girl-friendly setting. Specialty programming includes learning to use a compass, knot tying, using signal flags, properly using a PFD and water safety, overcoming an obstacle course and practicing self-defense techniques – in a hero-to-hero setting where every girl can achieve her full potential. Last year’s event photos can be viewed at www.mercergs.org/BootCamp.html.
The experiences of GSWPA Boot Camp 2009 are designed to provide girls with skills and leadership abilities that they can use in many facets of their everyday lives; and give them the opportunity to interact with positive, caring adult role models.
Space is still available. Register by Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
Cost is $40 and includes all meals, lodging, two full days of programming, ceremony for parents and family members at the end of the second day, the GSWPA Boot Camp Patch and a Boot Camp t-shirt.
