Girl Scout Cookie Sale Raises Funds For Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts
Making the world a better place is central to the Girl Scout mission. This year, as our world neighbors help the people of Haiti recover from a catastrophic earthquake, Girl Scouts have the opportunity to set a special cookie goal and designate a portion of their sale proceeds to go toward many of the relief efforts.
Girl Scout Junior and Cadette Troop 11150 from the Ambridge and Freedom School Districts in Beaver County have designated ten percent of their cookie sale proceeds toward Haitian relief efforts. “When voting on what to do with their Girl Scout Cookie Sale profits, the 25-girl troop came to the decision to help provide assistance to the people of Haiti,” said Troop Leader, Felicia Mycyk. The troop’s donation will be given to World Vision, with the request it go toward food, medicine and family survival kits — including clean water, blankets, cooking supplies and tents — to children and families devastated by the earthquake in Haiti.
Customers looking to assist Troop 11150 in their endeavor, will find the Girl Scouts hosting Cookie Booth Sales on the following dates:
- Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Ambridge Shop N Save, 2910 Duss Ave, Ambridge, PA 15003
