GSWPA Accepting Nominations for Board of Directors
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania’s (GSWPA) Board Development Committee is pleased to announce that they are currently accepting nominations for positions on the Board of Directors from candidates in Clearfield, McKean, Greene, Fayette, Washington, Bedford and Somerset Counties. Board member positions are available in three-year terms.
Girl Scout Day at PNC Park
Girl Scouts and their families are invited to cheer on the Pittsburgh Pirates as they take on the Houston Astros at PNC Park on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 1:35 p.m. All Girl Scouts in attendance will receive a Pittsburgh Pirates Girl Scout Patch.

GSWPA Host Leadership Breakfast Seminar
Canonsburg, PA: Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania will host a Leadership Breakfast Seminar on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010 at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe, 1000 Corporate Drive, Canonsburg, PA. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m., with the program running from 8-9:30 a.m.

Erie, PA - Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania’s Awards of Distinction Luncheon will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 12 - 1:30 p.m. at the Bayfront Convention Center.
Knepper Press and GSWPA’s Forever Green Golf Outing
Tee off for a good cause at the 2010 Knepper Press and Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania Forever Green Golf Outing on Thursday, July 22 at Arnold Palmer’s Latrobe Country Club. All proceeds benefit Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania’s commitment to a healthy environment for girls – in the out of doors and in all aspects of their lives.
GSWPA Hosts Memorial Event for Camp Birdsall Edey
On June 26, 2010, Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania (GSWPA) hosted a memorial event at Chapman State Park to celebrate memories of Camp Birdsall Edey and to discuss plans to move forward with additional program options and outdoor program experiences. A group of both girl and adult members shared stories, sung camp songs and reviewed plans for a Camp Birdsall Edey memorabilia display. Participants left with a Camp Birdsall Edey patch and memory book. This ceremony commemorated the Girl Scouts appreciation of service by Camp Birdsall Edey, which will no longer be used as a result of the Long Range Property Plan and Study conducted in 2009.

GSWPA Plans Annual Volunteer Kick-off
Girl Scout volunteers of all positions can get energized with a jump start on new resource, the latest information, upcoming program opportunities, updates on council initiatives and idea-sharing at the 2010 GSWPA Volunteer Kick-off Events.
GSWPA Offers Lifeguards to Troops this Summer
For Girl Scouts planning troop camp at Camp Curry Creek in Brockway or Camp Resting Waters in Kane this summer, Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania is providing lifeguards. One lifeguard (for 25 swimmers) will be on duty at both camps during specific times. Troops will be required to pay pool rental fees, provide their own watchers and if more than 25 swimmers will be in the pool make their own arrangements for additional lifeguards.
