Receives Disney Friends for Change Grant
Pittsburgh, PA – Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania (GSWPA) has received a $500 grant through the Disney Friends for Change Program. Funds from this grant will be used to purchase two rain barrels and one large capacity composter for environmental action projects at Camp Redwing in Butler County.
GSWPA Annual Meeting
This year’s Annual Meeting will be conducted at nine (9) locations, running simultaneously and connected via web-based technology on Saturday, April 17, 2010. Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.; the meeting begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m.
Receives Funding Through Operation Weed and Seed
Pittsburgh, PA - Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania (GSWPA) has received $3,780 in funding through Operation Weed and Seed to deliver its “Healthy Living Sampler” program to 100 girls in West Pittsburgh (Chartiers City, Crafton Heights, Elliott, Esplen, Fairywood, Sheraden, West End and Windgap). Operation Weed and Seed is a partnership of Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, the U.S. Attorney for Western Pennsylvania and community stakeholders in federally-designated Weed and Seed sites.
GSWPA Terminates Lease at Camp Birdsall Edey
Warren, PA – Citing health and safety issues uncovered in a recent property assessment, Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania has terminated its lease of property at Camp Birdsall Edey in the Allegheny National Forest in Warren County effective January, 2010. This joint decision was made in conjunction with representatives from the U.S. Forest Service.
GSWPA Celebrates Girl Scout Week
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania joins Girl Scouts around the country to make the world a better place as we celebrate Girl Scout Week and the 98th anniversary of Girl Scouts from March 7-13. More than three million girls in the United States and more than 35,000 girls in Western Pennsylvania are discovering their path to leadership through Girl Scouts.
