For Girl Scouts planning troop camp at Camp Curry Creek in Brockway or Camp Resting Waters in Kane this summer, Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania is providing lifeguards. One lifeguard (for 25 swimmers) will be on duty at both camps during specific times. Troops will be required to pay pool rental fees, provide their own watchers and if more than 25 swimmers will be in the pool make their own arrangements for additional lifeguards.
Girl Scouting offers girls cross-cultural opportunities for regional, national and international travel as well as resources in travel planning and progression. Girl Scouts in 6-12 grade who are interested in a Travel Pathway, can apply for specific destination travel trips through GSUSA or take a road trip with girls throughout our council. These once-in-a-lifetime day, weekend, week or longer adventures are made possible for all girls—thanks to the proceeds earned through participation in the MagNut and Girl Scout Cookie Sale Programs.
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania is sponsoring a girls’ video contest because we know girls and the creative ways they can use technology. All members in grades K-12 may participate. Simply select from one of the five themes below, grab your camera and friends then start shooting.

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout Senior or Ambassador in grades 9-12 may earn. Someone once described the Girl Scout Gold Award as being “what you really want to be remembered for” in Girl Scouting. For many, the leadership skills, organizational skills, and sense of community and commitment that come from “going for the Gold” set the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship.
