Essay Contest – Girls win a trip to Mexico and New York City

Feb 04, 2009 Posted in Newsroom, Press Releases

Through a partnership with EF educational tours we are pleased to announce that EF Educational Tours is calling for submissions for its third annual Girl Scout Global Citizen Essay Contest.

The contest has two goals: to challenge girls to consider their roles as Girl Scouts in the world and to allow them to put their experiences into words. For the winners, the prize of an educational tour will not simply be a reward for a job well done—it will also serve as a vehicle for developing ambassadors for global action and provide them an opportunity to impact their community.

Applicants: Girls must be registered Girl Scouts between the ages of 12-17 by March 15, 2009. Twelve girls, ages 12 to 14 with winning essays, will be chosen for a 4 or 6-day* expenses-paid educational tour to New York City. Six girls, ages 15 to 17 with winning essays, will be chosen for a 9-day expenses-paid educational tour to Mexico.

*Depends upon availability. Length of tour will be announced to the 12 winners by May 1, 2009, but will either be 4 or 6-days in length.

How to apply: Download the application along with the contest rules. The contest deadline for all applications is March 15, 2009.

Winners will be notified by May 1, 2009. The 4 or 6 day tour will take place between June 21 and July 12, 2009. The 9-day tour will take place between June 25 and July 15, 2009.
