New Opportuntities for Volunteer Adult Awards

Aug 01, 2013 Posted in Home Page, Newsroom, Volunteer News

Recognizing the hard work and dedication of volunteers is very important to Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania. We ask volunteers and staff to nominate members of GSWPA who have gone above and beyond to provide services to the girls of GSWPA. And every year, adult awards have become more and more popular. Because of the popularity of these awards, a few changes have been made to the process so that volunteers can be recognized throughout the year.

• The Appreciation Pin and Honor Pin, along with the Volunteer of Excellence will be recognized at the Fall and Spring Town Hall Meetings. Service Units/Nominators can perform their own pinning ceremonies, or present the pins at the Town Hall but all awardees will be recognized at their local Town Hall event.
• President’s Awards can be recognized at either of the Town Halls, but will also be recognized at the Annual Meeting.
• In order to meet deadlines for this, there is an August 10th deadline for Board Approved Awards if you’d like the recognition to take place at the fall Town Hall meeting. (This will ensure that we get the awards in time, assemble the Adult Award Review Committee to review the nominations, and submit it to the Board for their September meeting in order to approve the award before the Fall Town Hall.)
• Service Unit Awards can be turned in at any time but must be submitted no later than two weeks before the Town Hall meeting so that documents can be reviewed and final approval granted.
