  • Girls and Women in Sports Day

    Location: Mercyhurst University, REC Gym, 501 East 38th St., Erie, PA 16546 – Erie County
    Time: 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
    Cost: $5 per girl/No adult fee
    Minimum Capacity: 15

    Mercyhurst University’s 4th annual Girls and Women in Sports Day allows you to interact with female athletes from more than 10 teams, including field hockey, water polo and rowing! Pass a volleyball, shoot a hockey puck, bounce a tennis ball, throw a softball and participate in other activities with Mercyhurst athletes. Then, cheer on the Lady Lakers basketball team as they take on the Edinboro Fighting Scots. Free giveaways, halftime events and pizza rounds out the day as you’re introduced to sports at the collegiate level, and celebrate being a Mercyhurst Laker for the day! This is a great opportunity to work on the Brownie Fair Play badge, the Junior Practice With Purpose badge or the Cadette Good Sportsmanship badge.

  • 2015 Game On – Pitt Women’s Basketball Girl Scout Day

    Time: Doors open at noon, Game starts at 2 p.m.
    Cost: $1
    Registration Deadline: February 19

    Join us on Sunday, March 1, 2015 for Girl Scout Day at the Peterson Events Center. The game starts at 2 p.m. vs. Clemson, and special Girl Scout activities will be available pre-game and throughout the game, including:
    • a chance to meet the women’s basketball, cheer and dance teams;
    • poster making and exchanging sports-themedSWAPS;
    • face painting, balloon artist and craft stations;
    • a service project (drop off your gently used items for Goodwill);
    • watching videos from the team and in-game performances on the court;
    • concession stand with a Girl Scout Day special; and
    • a special drawing for Girl Scouts in uniform to win a week at camp.

    Tickets to this event are only $1 – a saving of $4 off the regular ticket price.

  • Frontier Women’s Day at Fort Pitt Museum

    Saturday, Mar 28 @ 10:00 am

    Girl Grades: 2-5 and families
    Location: Fort Pitt Museum, 601 Commonwealth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15222 – Allegheny County
    Time: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
    Cost: $18 per person
    Minimum Capacity: 50
    Registration Deadline: March 2
    Volunteer Opportunity: Event Host; to volunteer, please contact bnovak@gswpa.org.

    Learn about the women from the 18th century and play games, make toys and try other activities that were popular in the Pennsylvania Frontier. Identify different animal furs and learn how to pitch a tent in order to live on the frontier. Tour the museum and watch a live musket and rifle demonstration. Brownies will work on the Celebrating Community badge and Juniors will work on the Playing the Past badge. You’ll also receive a Fort Pitt fun patch.
