Become a Citizen Scientist 02-08-19

MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

Date: Fri Feb 08, 7:00 PM - Sun Feb 10, 11:00 AM EST

Location: GSWPA Camp Skymeadow,164 Skymeadow Ln, Avonmore, PA, 15618, USA

Are you a Brownie or a Junior who’s a science wiz? Do you love contributing to your local community? Then come to Camp Skymeadow for this jam-packed Journey weekend to work through the Think Like a Citizen Scientist Journey. You’ll learn all about citizen science, which involves everyday people volunteering to collect data, which helps scientists do research. A lot of the times, citizen science projects involve tracking environmental changes, but they can be about almost any subject! You’ll have a chance to pick out your own topic for a citizen science project and help the community by contributing the data you collect! We’ll finish up the Journey by helping you plan your very own Take Action project, so you can continue to put your new citizen science skills to good use. Girls must attend with an approved volunteer. Brownies and Juniors will earn their Think Like a Citizen Scientist Journey. Badges are included in the cost of the program, so girls will go home with their newly-earned badge. Take Action Award badge is NOT included. Meals included are: breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday; breakfast on Sunday. Feel free to pack any additional snacks you may want. Registration Deadline: January 28, 2019

Need help with the new Activities registration process?
Check out this step-by-step tutorial or email us at customercare@gswpa.org for support. We're here to help!

Registration Confirmation

You'll see a detailed receipt on your screen upon completion of the registration process. This receipt is your activity registration confirmation. If you do not see a detailed receipt, you have not fully completed the registration process. If this happens to you, please contact Customer Care at customercare@gswpa.org for assistance. For some council activities, you will receive a confirmation letter via email with more activity information.

To view a list of your current activity registrations, log in to your MyGS and click MyActivities. Clicking the information icon next to each activity will provide you additional information.

Contact Customer Care at customercare@gswpa.org with any questions.

Refunds & Cancellations

Refunds will be given when:

  • GSWPA cancels council activity;
  • Financial Assistance is not awarded and the registrant has made a partial payment;
  • Registrant cancels their registration:

1. By the posted registration deadline for programs/training OR

2. Two weeks prior to the camp start date.

Refund requests submitted after these deadlines will result in forfeiture of registration fee.

Refund requests submitted after these deadlines will be considered when a registrant cancels due to illness, family illness, or family emergency.

Refunds will NOT be given for deposits, late arrivals, early departures, no shows, or participants who leave due to behavior or due to dissatisfaction. Financial Aid will not be refunded to members upon cancellation of activity.

To cancel your registration use the Council Activity Cancellation and Refund Request form

Transfers

If you can’t attend a council activity for which you registered and for which you paid fully, you can request that the registration be transferred to another active member of Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania. To make this request, complete the Transfer Registration Request form. Requests must be submitted at least 3 business days before the council activity. Note: Financial Aid cannot be transferred.

Late Registration and Late Payment

To ensure that we have the proper amount of supplies and adult supervision available, we do not allow registrations to be processed after the posted registration deadline with the exception of waitlist registrations. Registrants who are on a waitlist will have their registration processed if a spot opens up after the registration deadline. The registration deadline that is listed with the council activity is the last date that you can register for the council activity.

If you have not paid in full by the registration deadline, your registration may be cancelled and partial payment may not be refunded.

If you want to confirm your registration was completed, check the MyActivities tab in your MyGS. If you have questions, please contact Customer Care at customercare@gswpa.org
