Welcome to MagNut News, our weekly newsletter to help you and your troop have a successful MagNut Program. 

Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021

Balances due to council

  • Any balances due to council after the ACH sweep, should be mailed as a troop check to GSWPA, Attention: Fall Product Sales Coordinator, 503 Martindale St., Suite 500, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
  • For any troop that has a credit balance and an ACH form on file, a Reverse ACH will occur on Jan. 14, 2021. Troops with a credit balance without an ACH on file will receive a check (the expected date is TBD).
  • Troops without a Bank Account Information and ACH Authorization Form on file must submit one to participate in the cookie program. 
    • New troops must file the form as soon as their bank account is set up.

What if I have a delinquent girl?

  • If you have not already submitted the 2020 Delinquent MagNut Money Form please do so immediately.
  • Girls with a balance due do not receive their rewards until their balance is paid in full.

Rewards

  • Rewards are on backorder but should be arriving in the next few weeks to the Service Unit MagNut Rewards Managers listed in M2.
  • Girl Scout Bucks and FUNd Bucks will be mailed separately from Council to the Service Unit MagNut Rewards Manager. Please distribute promptly. The expiration date is September 2021.
  • Your SUMM will contact troops to arrange distribution.
  • For Reward distribution to girls:
  1. From your Troop Dashboard, Select DELIVERY.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to Reward Delivery Tickets.
  3. Choose either Troop Tickets by Troop or Girl Scout Tickets.
  4. Print 2 copies of the Reward Delivery Ticket.
  • After all agree that the count being received is correct, the parent signs the form.
  • Parents and troops each retain a signed copy.
  • Reward issues deadline is Jan. 28, 2021.  There will not be any reward exchanges.
  • Delinquent girls are not to receive their rewards until the balance is paid in full. If a girl is still delinquent, she can only participate in the cookie program by participating at booth sales and through Digital Cookie.

Reach for the Skye winner

Emmaline of Troop 51308 (Service Unit 1680 Beaver) won Skye, the giant sloth from the Reach for the Skye contest drawing. Congratulations to Emmaline and her new roommate!

Frequently Asked Questions

What browser should be used for the M2 Site?

The M2 site is compatible with Chrome and Firefox, it is not compatible with Microsoft Edge.

I did not receive the launch email to access the M2 site.

  • Check your junk/spam folders. The email was addressed from: GirlScoutswesternPa<noreply@mail.gsnutsand mags.com>.
  • Verify that you're a registered and approved volunteer for the 2020 Girl Scout year.
  • Then, contact us at 800-248-3355 or customercare@gswpa.org.

Can I share my registration email link for M2 with another volunteer in my troop?

No. Each registration email is unique.

Can I add my troop MagNut manager (TMM) to the M2 site?

Yes, if they are a registered and approved volunteer for the 2020 membership year. Also, please verify that your TMM’s volunteer position is designated  to reflect the troop MagNut manager position. 

Why am I unable to add girls to M2?

Troops are currently not able to enter girls. GSWPA is uploading registered girls on a continuing basis. During the troop entry period (Oct. 22-23), when troop leaders add in-person nut/candy orders, if the girl's name is not showing in the M2 site, the ADD GIRL SCOUT button will be available. 

A girl is not appearing in my troop on M2?

  • Verify that she is registered for 2020 in the correct troop. It may take a few days for us to upload her.
  • If the girl has been registered for longer than a few days, contact us at 800-248-3355 or customercare@gswpa.org.
  • Remember: Girls can still log on to the M2 site to start their online sales, even if they do not appear in your troop.

What if a girl has transferred to another troop (or into my troop)? How do I get her transferred?

Where do I choose the opt-out option?

Can I change the opt-out option if I change my mind?

Once you choose to opt-out and click update, it cannot be changed.  

Why can’t I enter my girls in-person nut and candy orders?

Troops will have the ability to enter nut orders Oct. 22 and 23 until 11:59 p.m.  Prior to this, the parents have the option to enter in-person orders.

Is there a transaction fee for online girl delivered orders?

No, there is no fee this year.

When does my ACH form need to be completed?

If you are a new troop or have changed banks or signers, a new ACH/Banking Information Form needs to be submitted by Nov. 14.

2020 MagNut Program begins Thursday, Oct. 1.

Troop MagNut managers (TMM) and troop leaders, welcome to the 2020 MagNut Program!

Thank you for your support to make the MagNut Program a success for your troop! Is your troop ready to participate and earn start-up funds? The program can be done safely and easily online or in-person with social distancing! If you have not received your MagNut materials for your troop, please contact your service unit MagNut manager.

In case you missed the MagNut troop launch email:

  • The message was sent on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Double check your junk/spam folders. The email was addressed from: GirlScoutswesternPa<noreply@mail.gsnutsand mags.com>.

Girl Experience

Girls can create their avatars, send emails, and begin to get orders!

Girls do not need to receive a launch email to start their MagNut online experience! Girls/parents can get started by entering the  https://gsnutsandmags.com/GSWPA. This link can also be found on MagNut Program webpage and on the M2 Flyer!

New Printable Resources
In addition to the traditional order card and other materials received from your SU MagNut Manager you can easily email these to your girls!

Family Guide with Permission Form
2020 Family Guide with Permission Form. Only girls with a 2021 GSUSA membership should receive the Family Guide. The Parent/Guardian must sign the Permission Form and return to the Troop MagNut Manager/Leader prior to the girl login to M2 to participate in the MagNut Program.

Door Hangers
New this year! Door Hanger 2020 are for the girls to use if a potential customer is not home. Girls can customize the door hanger to include their store code. When customers go to the website and type in that store code, it will take them directly to the girls’ customized storefront for both Nuts and Chocolate and Magazines.

Printable Order Card
New this year! We have the Printable Order Card - 2020. You will be able to print this on 8.5x11 paper. Girls will be able to give a copy to their customer to complete to make their choice of products to purchase.

Monday, Oct. 12

Troop MagNut Managers (TMM): 
Log into your M2 site today!

  • Verify that you are in the correct troop(s) for 2020-2021.
    • If you still cannot access M2 login, please contact GSWPA Customer Care at 800-248-3355 or customercare@gswpa.org
    • Troop leaders should add their troop’s MagNut Manager (TMM) to the M2 site. Please note: The TMM must be a registered, approved GSWPA volunteer.
  • Not seeing all your girls listed in M2 for your troop?
    • Verify the girls are registered for 2020-2021 and in the correct troop.
    • Girls can still participate if they did not get an email by going to gsnutsandmags.com/GSWPA to participate.
    • TMM's can send the parent an email with the link.

Are you a new troop just getting started?

There’s still time to participate! In-person and online girl-delivered sales end on Oct. 19, but online direct-shipped and magazine sales don’t end until Sunday, Nov. 29.

Order Entry for parents

Remember! Parents have until October 19 by 11:59 p.m. to enter their girl’s in-person order card into M2.

Additional Proceeds Option

If your Junior, Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador troop would like to opt-out of individual recognitions to receive an extra 5% in proceeds, the opt-out option must be selected on your M2 Troop Dashboard (under Rewards and Patches) prior to order entry.

  • Once selected, the opt-out option cannot be changed.
  • Submit the MagNut proceeds Opt-Out form to your Service Unit MagNut Manager.

ACH and Banking

ACH banking information will be uploaded after Thursday, Oct. 22. Troops will be able to check their banking information after this date. If your banking information has changed or a new troop, please have a new form submitted. Also, if you have new signers, a new ACH form must be submitted to GSWPA.

Cookie Crossover Bonus Proceeds

Troops can earn additional cookie proceeds by participating in MagNut!

  • Troops with per girl average (PGA) of $175 for MagNut and a PGA of 165 Cookie packages will earn an extra $.02 per package of cookies sold during the 2021 Cookie Program.
  • Troops with per girl average (PGA) of $250 for MagNut and a PGA of 165 Cookie packages will earn an extra $.03 per package of cookies sold during the 2021 Cookie Program.

Friday, Oct. 16

Upcoming Key Dates:

  • Monday, Oct. 19: Parent order entry
    • Parents can enter their girl’s in-person nuts & candy orders in M2 by Oct. 19 at 11:59 p.m. 
    • Online, girl-delivered nuts and candy orders do not need to be entered in M2. They will populate automatically. 
  • Tuesday, Oct. 20-Wednesday, Oct. 21: Troop order entry
    • If the parent has not entered their girl’s in-person order, you will be able to enter it. 
    • Re-check each girl’s copy of their in-person order card with what has been entered in M2. If needed, make edits. 
    • If a girl is not appearing in M2 and she has an in-person order, you will be able to click "ADD GIRL" to add her and her order (option only available Oct. 20-21).
      • Ensure that the girl registers for a 2021 Girl Scout membership.  

Note: There is no submit button. The account will be active until lockout! 

Are you a new troop just getting started?

There is still time for troops, new Girl Scouts, and girls still working toward their goals to participate! Online ordering goes through Nov. 29! 

Additional Proceeds Option

Sunday, Nov. 1

We are having "a sloth" of fun this MagNut season, and we hope your girls are, too. Thank you for continuing to encourage your girls to reach their goals, and it’s not too late if your troop just got up and running or if you have newly joined girls! 

While the in-person nuts and candy orders have been submitted, the online magazine and direct-shipped nut sales are open through Nov. 29 at 11:59 p.m.  

Remind your girls of the Reach for the Skye Challenge where they can have a chance to be entered in a drawing to win Skye, the Giant Sloth. Check out the details. 

Delivery  

Delivery of nuts and candy to service units will be Nov. 9 -12. Your Service Unit MagNut Manager will be contacting you with with your troop order pick-up information. 

Damaged and Additional Product  

Damaged Items
Please contact Customer Care at customercare@gswpa.org or 800-248-3355.  Damaged items must be returned to GSWPA to get a replacement. No exchanges or returns can be made on non-damaged items 

Additional Product
There is a very limited supply of additional product at select offices. We will not know until all deliveries have been made what will be available. Troops requesting additional product will be placed on a Request List and notified if available.   

Offices are currently closed, but arrangements can be made in advance to exchange damaged items or additional items by contacting Customer Care at 800-248-3355 or customercare@gswpa.org.  No walk-ins, please.

All existing troops must have a current Bank Account Information and ACH Authorization form on file with GSWPA. New troops must file the form as soon as their bank account is set up. The ACH sweep (only one sweep) is Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020.  

Banking information has been uploaded into M2, so please verify that the information is correct. If no information appears or it  is incorrect, submit a new ACH Form by Monday, Nov. 16. 

From your troop dashboard: 

  1. Click Banking & Payments  
  2. Click on the troop number  
  3. Click on View ACH  

Check that the bank name, routing number, and the last 4 digits of your account number are correct.  

If your troop will not have enough funds to cover the ACH sweep on Thursday, Dec. 10, you need to submit a 2020 ACH MagNut Adjustment Request Form by Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020.

Wednesday, Nov. 4

There is still time to order nuts, candy, and magazines online for holiday gifts! Online magazine and direct-shipped nuts and candy sales are open until Sunday, Nov. 29 at 11:59 p.m.

  • New Troops or newly registered girls can still participate!
  • Remind your girls of the Reach for the Skye Challenge where they can have a chance to be entered in a drawing to win Skye, the Giant Sloth.
  • Remember, one of the criteria for each the Cookie Crossover Patch is to send 15 emails during the MagNut program!  

Delivery

Your Service Unit MagNut Manager (SUMM) will be contacting you with the troop’s product pick-up date, time, and location. 

The delivery to the Service Units is Monday, Nov. 9 through Thursday, Nov. 12.

To prepare for next week’s delivery, please print:

Troop Delivery Ticket

  1. From your Troop’s Dashboard, choose Product Management – Delivery Tickets
  2. Select Troop Tickets >Troop
  3. Toggle to right (turns green) Include Financials
  4. Click Create Ticket
  • Your SUMM will have two copies of your troop’s tickets for you to confirm and sign. One copy is for the service unit and one copy is for the troop.
  • The ticket will list all the products by case/singles that the troop is to receive.
  • Report any damages or issues to your SUMM immediately!
  • Remember that the SUMM and the Troop MagNut Manager (TMM) must agree on the count before signing the ticket. Once the TMM signs for this ticket, the TMM is responsible for all the quantities listed.
  • Any late orders that were submitted to council after the in-person lockout, will not be with this delivery.  There is an extremely limited supply of extra products.  The troop will be contacted by council if we are able to fill the order and to make arrangements for pick-up. Please no walk-ins.
  • Operation: Sweet Appreciation items are not included in the delivery but are noted on each of the delivery slips for financial purposes only.

Girl Delivery Tickets

  1. From your Troop’s Dashboard, choose Product Management – Delivery Tickets
  2. Select Girl Scout Tickets > Troop >All or Specific Girl Scout
  3. Toggle to right (turns green) Include Financials
  4. Click Create Ticket
  • This ticket will list all the products by case/singles that the girl is to receive.
  • Print two copies of each Girl Scout Delivery Ticket to be signed by the girl’s parent/guardian and the TMM. This document must be submitted with any Delinquency Report to council.
  • Remember that the Girl’s Parent/Guardian and the TMM must agree on the count before signing the ticket.  Once the girl’s parent/guardian signs for this ticket, the parent/guardian is responsible for all the quantities listed.

MagNut proceeds: multiple troop designation

The 2020 Multiple Troop Designation Form is for girls participating in multiple troops to properly designate MagNut sales proceeds. MagNut sales are credited equally to each GSWPA troop in which the Girl Scout participates. For example, if a Girl Scout is in a troop and joins a travel troop, her MagNut sales can be split 50/50 between the two troops if the form is filled out and sent by the deadline.

ACH Sweep

The ACH Sweep was completed on Thursday, Dec. 10. (There is only one sweep for MagNut.)

    • When the delinquent funds are received, the troop should mail a check to: GSWPA, Attention: Fall Product Sales Coordinator, 503 Martindale St., Suite 500, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
    • Girls with a balance due, do not receive their rewards until their balance is paid in full.

Rewards received

  • The rewards order has been submitted.  All rewards are final.
  • Any girl that did not complete their choice of rewards by the extended deadline will receive the default reward item. 
  • Rewards are scheduled to be delivered the week of Jan. 4 to the Service Unit MagNut Rewards Managers listed in M2. 
    • Girl Scout Bucks and FUNd Bucks will be mailed separately from council to the Service Unit MagNut Rewards Manager. Please distribute promptly. Expiration date is September 2021.
  • Your SUMM will be making arrangements for troops to receive their girls’ rewards. 
  • Troops will make arrangements for girls to receive their rewards.      
    1. From your Troop Dashboard, Select DELIVERY.
    2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to Reward Delivery Tickets.
    3. Choose either Troop Tickets by Troop or Girl Scout Tickets.
    4. Print 2 copies of the Reward Delivery Ticket.
      • After all agree the count being received is correct, the parent signs the form.
      • Parents and troops each retain a signed copy.
  • Reward issues deadline is Jan. 22, 2021. There will not be any reward exchanges.
  • Delinquent girls are not to receive their rewards until the balance is paid in full. If a girl is still delinquent, she can only participate in the cookie program by participating at booth sales and through Digital Cookie.
