Have you always been interested in geocaching and didn't know where
to start? Did you know you can find world of amazing, unique, and
interesting caches just by the click of a button using your cell
phone?
L.L.Bean's experienced instructors will teach you
the basics of what geocaching is, how it works, safety considerations,
how to participate in this modern-day treasure hunt without leaving a
trace and how to never pass up a geocache opportunity again. And they
will teach you how to do it all by using your cell phone!
North Park is full of geocache treasures so we will spend most of our
time hiking, searching, and celebrating our discoveries. Juniors will
complete all but one of the requirements to earn their
"Geocacher" badge (not included).
Please come
prepared with a daypack, full water bottle, snack, sunscreen, bug
spray, proper hiking shoes and attire. You will be using your phone
for a portion of this event, so make sure it is fully charged. In the
interest of time, participants will need to have the app
"Geocaching from Groundspeak" already downloaded to their
cell phone and an account created prior to this event. The premium
upgrade is not necessary for this event.
***Adult
supervision for the duration of the event is required. Girls must
attend with a parent/guardian or troop leaders (following ratio). All
attending adults must register. This allows us to confirm ample space
and supervision in advance of the event. No tagalongs
permitted.***
