Who's ready to feel the heat of the furnace in one of the hottest
experiences offered by our partners at Pittsburgh Glass Center,
featuring one of the coolest glass pieces. Local artisans will
showcase and share their talents during a Girl Scouts Make-It-Now
Event for older Girl Scouts, who will make hand-crafted glass flowers.
This event is intended for older participants ready to try their hands
at the next level of working with molten glass and is intended for
Juniors and up. Limited spaces available.
Each
participant will end with a colorful sculpted glass flower of their
own creation that will be ready to be picked up five days after the
activity. Finished pieces can be mailed for an additional cost if
participants are unable to pick them up in person. All participants
receive a glass-working patch.
Participants can also
observe professional glass blowing demonstrations as well as explore
Pittsburgh Glass Center's open gallery and studios through a
self-guided tour. Every girl needs to attend with an adult. Adults are
welcome to register and participate in the class.
Want to
keep the fun going? PGC will also be offering TWO additional
experiences this fall on the same day where participants can choose to
create fused glass suncatchers (all ages) or blown-glass pumpkins (all
ages). Participants who register for two or more events will receive a
discount. Check out "Suncatcher Sunday at Pittsburgh Glass
Center" or "Pumpkin-palooza at Pittsburgh Glass Center"
on the GSWPA Activities Page for more information about those
events.
***Adult supervision for the duration of the
event is required. Girls must attend with a parent/guardian or troop
leaders (following ratio). No tagalongs permitted.***
