Who's ready to discover how easy it is to balance on top of the
water? Jump into summer fun with something new and learn the basics of
Standup Paddle Boarding (SUP) with your fellow Girl Scouts!
This
paddle boarding starter course with our partners at L.L. Bean is an
excellent opportunity to learn the basic strokes and skills you'll
need for maneuvering a paddle board, allowing you to explore and play
on the water.
Trained instructors from our partners at L.L. Bean
will go over water safety, paddle strokes, and help and guide you to
explore the lake at North Park. Everyone will be provided with a PFD,
paddle, and board.
Please come prepared with weather- and
activity-appropriate clothing (preferably synthetic). Make sure to
wear activity-appropriate shoes and possible bring an extra pair in
case your shoes get wet. Bring a day pack and at least one quart of
water (no glass bottles, please). Also make sure to bring any personal
prescriptions, such as EpiPen or inhaler. And, of course, don't forget
insect repellent.
***Adult supervision for the duration
of the event is required. Girls must attend with a parent/guardian or
troop leaders (following ratio). All attending adults must register
and pay. This allows us to confirm ample space and supervision in
advance of the event. No tagalongs permitted.***
