Fall into dazzling autumn colors (or even spectacular shades of the
upcoming holidays) with our partners at Pittsburgh Glass Center. Local
artisans will showcase and share their talents with Girl Scouts as
they make sure everyone catches colorful rays through their window.
With assistance from expert glass artists, participants will transform
sheet glass into dazzling, decorative suncatchers.
Participants will work with glass experts from PGC to transform sheet
glass into a dazzling and decorative suncatcher/holiday ornament. In
this introductory experience, budding artists will combine colored
glass granules (frit) and thin glass strands (stringers) to create a
unique and festive suncatcher of their own design. Once participants
design it, artisans at PGC will fire it in the kiln, fusing all the
pieces into one stunning suncatcher.
Participants can
also observe professional glass blowing demonstrations as well as
explore Pittsburgh Glass Center's open gallery and studios through a
self-guided tour. Every girl needs to attend with an adult. Adults are
welcome to register and participate in the class.
Want to
keep the fun going? PGC will also be offering TWO additional
experiences this fall on the same day where participants can choose to
create sculpted glass flowers (limited space available, intended for
Juniors and up) or blown-glass pumpkins (all ages). Participants who
register for two or more events will receive a discount. Check out

information about those events.
***Adult supervision for
the duration of the event is required. Girls must attend with a
parent/guardian or troop leaders (following ratio). No tagalongs
permitted.***
