Water Safety and Swim Event! (Greater Johnstown YMCA)
School's
out for the summer!! And what better time than the present to become
educated on water saving techniques all the while learning about the
chemicals that make your swimming water safe, and having fun at the
same time?! Girl Scouts will become acclimated with Pool Chemistry,
First Aid and CPR (sans certification cards), water safety and swim
lessons, as well as free swim time over a 2 hour period! Knowing how
to save yourself or someone else in water in priceless, so please
consider pre-registering your Girl Scout and troop! There will be
certified lifeguards present during the entire duration of the
class.
Location: Johnstown, PA
This program
is designed for Girl Scouts of Western PA during their visit to the
Greater Johnstown Community YMCA. The Program will be 2 hours in
length; made up of 3 education stations based on age level: Pool
Chemistry, First Aid / CPR, and Water Safety, with free swim time at
the end.
Pool Chemistry - instructed by the Greater Johnstown
Community YMCA Aquatic Director. Explanation of why and how we take
care of the water for our members to enjoy and be safe in.
First
aid and CPR - instructed by the Greater Johnstown Community YMCA
Aquatic Coordinator. Basic 1st Aid and CPR instructions (no
certification cards will be earned during this presentation).
Water Safety / YMCA swim lesson - instructed by the Greater Johnstown
Community YMCA Safety Around Water Instructor. Using the Red Cross
Curriculum the YMCA will go over how to be safe in, on, and around the
water.
Free Swim Time
***Adult supervision
for the duration of the event is required. Girls must attend with a
parent/guardian or troop leaders (following ratio). All attending
adults must register. This allows us to confirm ample space and
supervision in advance of the event.***

Cost: $15 / Girl Scout (Parents are free to attend, but
will be asked to not interfere with the
lessons as they are

$5 per extra swimmer - any parent/guardian that
would like to swim with their child
during free swim. Payable to
the YMCA on the day that you visit.
