Get ready for a day of creativity, experimentation, and discovery at
this exciting STEM event with the Gannon University Society of Women
Engineers. Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to explore science in
a fun and welcoming environment while connecting with college women
who are studying engineering and other STEM fields.
This
event is open to Girl Scout members who are interested in learning
more about science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on
experiences. The event will be led by members of the Gannon University
Society of Women Engineers, who are excited to share their passion for
STEM and encourage girls to explore their curiosity.
During the program, Girl Scouts will rotate through several
interactive activities. Girls will create their own homemade lava
lamps while learning about density and chemical reactions, make
personalized chapstick while exploring simple chemistry, and
experiment with oobleck to see how it behaves like both a liquid and a
solid. Participants will also design and create their own bracelets to
take home. In addition to the activities, girls will enjoy a guided
tour of the Gannon Makerspace where they will see tools and technology
used by engineering students to design, build, and test innovative
ideas.
All activity supplies will be provided, and
participants will receive a fun patch for attending. Snacks will also
be provided during the event.
Adult supervision for the
duration of the event is required. Girls must come in ratio as a troop
or with a caregiver. All attending adults must be registered. This
allows us to confirm ample space and supervision in advance of the
event. Activities are for girls only. If you are an adult attending
just to supervise, you still must register. Please choose the
non-participant option so we know who the girls will be attending
with.
No tagalongs permitted.
