Step into the world of an elephant keeper! Girls will discover what it takes to care for these incredible animals during this special experience at the Pittsburgh Zoo's ICC site. Participants will learn directly about the daily responsibilities of elephant keepers, from preparing meals and providing enrichment to supporting the elephants' health and medical needs. Girls will explore how keepers build relationships with elephants, observe their behaviors, and create engaging activities that encourage natural behaviors.
This hands-on experience will give girls a closer look at the important work that goes into caring for elephants while inspiring curiosity about animal science, wildlife conservation, and careers working with animals.
Weather Reminder: Somerset County can be colder than surrounding areas, so please dress warmly and prepare for changing weather conditions. A portion of this program will take place outdoors, so warm, comfortable clothing and weather-appropriate shoes are strongly recommended.
