The STEM Sisters Summer Social is designed to bring girls together in
a fun, welcoming environment where they can connect, collaborate, and
celebrate their shared interest in STEM. This event goes beyond
traditional programming by focusing on building friendships,
strengthening confidence, and creating a sense of belonging within the
STEM Sisters community. Whether girls are new to the program or
returning participants, this is an opportunity to meet new friends,
reconnect with fellow STEM Sisters, and enjoy a relaxed summer evening
together.
Throughout the event, girls will explore the
activities that are always available in the STEM Lab, giving them the
chance to try new things, revisit favorite topics, and discover new
interests at their own pace. From biodiversity and space science to
engineering, robotics, and solar exploration, participants will engage
in hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and
problem-solving.
In addition to open STEM exploration,
girls will participate in guided, interactive activities that blend
science with creativity. Participants will design and create their own
bath bombs while learning about chemical reactions and how different
ingredients work together to produce a fizzy effect. Girls will also
make their own ice cream using cream, ice, and salt, exploring
concepts like heat transfer and freezing point depression in a fun and
memorable way. These activities are designed to be collaborative,
encouraging girls to work together, share ideas, and learn from one
another.
The experience will continue outdoors, where
girls will gather around the campfire to enjoy hot dogs and spend time
together in a relaxed, social setting. A structured team-building
activity will help participants break the ice, strengthen
communication skills, and build connections across age levels,
reinforcing the sense of sisterhood that makes Girl Scouts
unique.
By the end of the evening, girls will not only
have explored exciting STEM concepts, but will also leave with new
friendships, stronger connections to the STEM Sisters community, and
lasting summer memories.
Girls will receive a STEM
