Think Like a Programmer Journey with CodeCampKidz (Fall 2020 Virtual Class)

Please complete the Girl Scout Internet Safety Pledge when registering for this program: https://gswpa.wufoo.com/forms/r1pfyrh41j6ma2e/ Complete your Think Like A ProgrammerJourney online and learn to code from the comfort of your own home on your own schedule! CodeCampKidz will guide you step by step as you work through your projects. No experience or previous knowledge is required. When you finish your Journey you will have coded a Take Action Project of your choosing and earned your journey award badges. There is no time limit for completing the Journey workbook and exercises. This program is designed for girls who are interested in a full code immersion experience. You’ll not only Think Like A Programmer but code like one as well while overcoming obstacles, building problem solving skills, and developing confidence as an independent coder. Girls are free to come and go as their schedule permits and can easily pick up where they left off. Optional live classes are available to support Girl Scouts. All you need to participate is a modern browser, high speed Wi-Fi, and a computer with audio capability. You will have as long as you need to complete your journey. This program is completely virtual, and the registration is rolling, which means we will continue to accept new girls throughout the entire fall season. Think Like a Programmer Journey Award Badge and Take Action Award Badge is included. Online safety CodeCampKidz runs the Think Like a Programmer Online Journey and is a third-party vendor. Adults are responsible for monitoring their Girl Scout’s online activity. Think Like a Programmer Virtual Overnight: Brownies and Juniors 11-20-20

**Please complete the Girl Scout Internet Safety Pledge and Recording Release when registering for this program: https://gswpa.wufoo.com/forms/svupt210yinxh0/ On this virtual Journey, Brownies and Juniors will learn how programmers solve problems through fun activities and games. They'll explore computational thinking, learn about algorithms by making a key chain, and connect their personal interests to computer science. Throughout the Journey, girls will also work towards their Take Action project. They’ll brainstorm issues they care about and problems in their communities and determine something they may do in the community. Girls will complete all the steps for the Think like a Programmer Journey except for the Take Action Project. AWARD BADGES NOT INCLUDED This Virtual "Overnight" program will be help via zoom. There will be an evening session followed by a session the following morning. Participation in both sessions is required to earn the journey award.The dates/times are as follows: Friday November 20th 6:30pm - 8:00pm Saturday November 21st 10am - 11:30am Required supplies (not included): Pen/Crayons or colored pencils Notebook paper 4 different colored beads (about 15 total beads) Piece of string or pipe cleaner Activity Packet (optional- will be provided for printing) Registration Deadline 11/11/20

Registration Confirmation

You'll see a detailed receipt on your screen upon completion of the registration process. This receipt is your activity registration confirmation. If you do not see a detailed receipt, you have not fully completed the registration process. If this happens to you, please contact Customer Care at customercare@gswpa.org for assistance. For some council activities, you will receive a confirmation letter via email with more activity information.

To view a list of your current activity registrations, log in to your MyGS and click MyActivities. Clicking the information icon next to each activity will provide you additional information.

Refunds & Cancellations

Refunds will be given when:

  • GSWPA cancels council activity
  • Financial Assistance is not awarded and the registrant has made a partial payment
  • Registrant cancels their registration by the posted registration deadline for programs/training
  • Registrant cancels their registration within two weeks of their summer camp start date 

Refund requests submitted after these deadlines will be considered when a registrant cancels due to illness, family illness, or family emergency and approved by Council.

Refunds will NOT be given for deposits, late arrivals, early departures, no shows, or participants who leave due to behavior or due to dissatisfaction. Financial Aid will not be refunded to members upon cancellation of activity. 

Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Refunds could take up to 30 days to process.  

Note: If you want to transfer your registration to another member, please use the Transfer Request Form

Transfers

If you can’t attend a council activity for which you registered and for which you paid fully, you can request that the registration be transferred to another active member of Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania. To make this request, complete the Transfer Registration Request form. Requests must be submitted at least 3 business days before the council activity. Note: Financial Aid cannot be transferred.

Late Registration and Late Payment

To ensure that we have the proper amount of supplies and adult supervision available, we do not allow registrations to be processed after the posted registration deadline with the exception of waitlist registrations. Registrants who are on a waitlist will have their registration processed if a spot opens up after the registration deadline. The registration deadline that is listed with the council activity is the last date that you can register for the council activity.

If you have not paid in full by the registration deadline, your registration may be cancelled and partial payment may not be refunded.
