Check out our Girl Scout Discovery Packs, quarterly activity boxes delivered to your doorstep! Or, rent a Program Kit (Coming soon!) from one of our council offices to hold your own troop or service unit event at a time and location of your choice. You can also schedule your own adventure with one of our Program Partners listed below.
Choose your own adventure at a time that works best for your troop. A Program Partner is a business or group in your community that offers amazing programs and benefits just for Girl Scouts. While these programs aren’t run by council staff, our Program Partners who offer them may offer discounts or relate their program to Girl Scout badges. Plus, they meet all safety requirements. Program Partners take all questions directly about the event—as well as registrations. Be sure to check back often as this list will be updated quarterly.

We are a parent participation program and request that an adult attends with the child. Parent involvement encourages musical togetherness and play and is key to a child’s musical growth! The small-group setting of CMA classes is fun and supportive and naturally draws children into the learning activities. Activities are fast-paced, incorporating games, stories, songs, dances, and ensemble playing, all within a nurturing and holistic environment. They may involve a variety of musical instruments including keyboard, recorder, glockenspiel, guitar, and various percussion instruments. Our curriculum fosters the development of memory, math, creative, self-discipline, and leadership skills. Girl Scouts can earn their Musician badge.

Immerse your Girl Scout group in the history of Penn’s Woods with a guided tour of the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum. Knowledgeable staff lead Girl Scouts through our Challenges and Choices exhibit to explore the interactive elements, historic tools, and life-size photographs that tell the story of how people utilized and interacted with the state’s forests over time. Tours then visit the site’s outdoor exhibits which include a recreated 20th-century logging camp, Shay locomotive, circular sawmill, and original CCC-constructed cabin.
Our Museum Educator will work with you to create a tour that is right for your Girl Scouts. Depending on your group’s interests, size, and time constraints, guided tours could include demonstrations of the site’s Shingle Mill, Blacksmith Shop, and Mess Hall Kitchen or hands-on use of lumber tools like crosscut saws. The museum could also coordinate with PA DCNR Susquehannock State Forest to schedule an educational forester (subject to DCNR staff availability) to lead your group on a guided hike along our Sustainable Forestry Trail, exploring forest management practices and tree identification in our local forests.

Provides Girl Scouts with a unique online chess education program that combines both critical thinking skills and key life skills to promote confidence in girls. We are committed to helping girls grow their confidence by teaching them chess strategy and its applications, how to pivot when mistakes are made, and by encouraging them to take chances and not be afraid to think outside the box. As girls earn their Girl Boss Chess patch and charms, progressing from level to level, we are excited to build a community of Girl Scouts, who turn to chess, not only as a fun sport, but also as a metaphor for life.

Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania has developed its first Council’s Own Badge! A Legacy of Conservation is a new badge for Girl Scout Cadettes that celebrates an important local, historical figure.
Rachel Carson was a prolific biologist, writer, and one of the founders of the modern environmental movement—and she was born and raised right here in western Pennsylvania!
The Legacy of Conservation badge encourages girls to get outside while teaching girls about environmental stewardship.
Through the work to earn the badge, girls can explore the outdoors, learn how to study environmental health through hands-on science, and discover ways to quantitatively find out their own environmental impact.
Download the badge requirements to get your Cadettes started on this unique program.
Badges are available for purchase through our council shops.
